Overview
We are a growing farm with over 400 honeybee colonies located throughout Southeastern Massachusetts. We are commited to sustainable farming practices and quality honey production. We are seeking an experienced and team-oriented beekeeper to join our dedicated team. This role requires a deep understanding of honeybee management, pest control, and effective honey harvesting methods, as well as a strong commitment to Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, monitor, and maintain 400+ honeybee colonies across multiple locations.
  • Apply Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies to ensure the health and productivity of bee colonies, including the prevention and management of common pests and diseases.
  • Harvest honey and other bee products, including ensuring efficient processing, packaging, and storage.
  • Conduct regular colony inspections, monitor bee health, and maintain accurate records of hive performance.
  • Oversee queen management, including monitoring and replacing queens as needed.
  • Collaborate with farm team members to ensure smooth daily operations, from colony management to harvesting.
  • Provide education and training to new beekeepers or team members about proper beekeeping techniques, pest management, and hive management.
  • Maintain equipment, such as smokers, hive tools, company vehicles, and honey extraction equipment, in good working condition.
  • Assist with woodenware construction, equipment maintenance, and apiary installations.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and best practices regarding bee management and honey production.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in beekeeping, with practical knowledge of honeybee biology, hive management, and pest control.
  • Valid driver’s license, as work will be spread across multiple farm locations.
  • Proven experience with IPM strategies and the ability to implement them effectively.
  • Strong understanding of honey harvesting techniques, including extraction, processing, and bottling.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
  • Comfortable working in outdoor conditions and in a variety of weather.
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment, move hives, and perform physical labor as required.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and address colony health issues promptly.
  • Good communication skills to coordinate with farm team members and provide education as needed.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 – $25.00 per hour
