He focuses on the social aspects of permaculture, exploring food systems, local food security, and facilitating visioning workshops that transform community spaces into thriving permaculture sites. Since 2016, he has taught with the Sonoran Permaculture Guild and led workshops for the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona.
Erik’s experience includes PINA Permaculture Teacher Training and mentorship under Jude Hobbs while pursuing his teaching diploma. He currently works as Borderlands Coordinator for the Sierra Club, applying permaculture principles to build cross-border community resilience and address the environmental impacts of border militarization.

Greg Peterson
Greg Peterson is the founder of The Urban Farm, a 1/3-acre food-producing homestead in Phoenix, Arizona. A passionate permaculture educator, Greg has spent over 30 years teaching others how to grow food, live sustainably, and transform urban spaces into productive ecosystems. He also hosts the Urban Farm Podcast, sharing insights from leaders in gardening, permaculture, and resilience. Greg’s mission is to inspire people to grow their own food and regenerate their communities.
