The Quivira Coalition’s Carbon Ranch Initiative team invites you to the heart of West Texas for an opportunity to improve rangeland soil health using compost, biochar and hay bale applications.

Join us for this immersive two-day series, set in the stunning landscape of Marfa and Fort Davis, TX. Participants will gain hands-on expertise applying compost, biochar, and hay bales to rangeland soils and learn how to monitor the transformative impacts of these applications on water retention, erosion control, and grass production. Participants will also learn about how healthy soils strengthen local beef economies and how on-ranch composting and biochar production contribute to mitigating climate change and wildfire risks.

Ranchers should attend. Technical service agents should attend. People who eat should attend. Free!

It’s highly beneficial for participants to attend both days. Day one will be held in Marfa to monitor the impacts of one-year old compost, biochar, and hay bale applications. Day two will be held in Fort Davis (about 20 minutes North of Marfa) to apply compost, biochar and hay bale to areas of bare rangeland or areas needing improvement. You can sign up for one or both days.

Participants are responsible for their own lodging and transportation. Lodging recommendations and directions will be shared by email for registered participants.
