Building Profitable & Resilient Farms with Ray Archuleta

New Homesteader Academy With Ray Archuleta Equips Landowners to Restore
Balance and Build Profitable, Resilient Farms

SEYMORE, MO — APRIL 10-12, 2026

At a time when rising input costs and unpredictable weather are putting
pressure on small farms and homesteads, the Soil Health Academy, a
leader in soil health education, announces a new educational event
focused on practical solutions rooted in soil health, financial clarity,
and regenerative land stewardship.

Soil Health Foundations for the Homestead will bring together farmers,
homesteaders, and landowners for hands-on training designed to restore
balance — to the land, to farm economics, and to local food systems.
“Healthy soil, healthy animals, healthy families, and healthy
communities are all connected,” said Doug Voss, Executive Director of
the Soil Health Academy. “When we restore life to the soil and keep
water where it lands, we’re not just improving a farm — we’re
strengthening the entire food system.”

The Academy is being held on the farm of Ray Archuleta, an
internationally recognized soil health educator and former Natural
Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) conservation agronomist. Known to
many as “Ray the Soil Guy,” Archuleta has spent decades translating
complex soil biology into practical, field-ready solutions for farmers
and ranchers across the country. His dynamic demonstrations and
straight-talking approach have made him one of the most trusted voices
in regenerative agriculture today.

“Soil is not just dirt,” Archuleta says. “It’s a living,
breathing ecosystem. When we restore life to the soil, we restore the
function of the land — and everything above it begins to thrive.”

What Attendees Will Learn:

*

How to know your numbers and improve farm profitability
*

Practical strategies to increase soil biology and water retention
*

Livestock management approaches that reduce input dependency
*

Drought and flood resilience through better land design
*

Systems thinking for long-term sustainability

Unlike many conferences that focus on theory, the Homesteader Academy
emphasizes real-world application. Attendees will leave with actionable
tools they can implement immediately — whether they manage five acres
or fifty.

The event is open to new and experienced homesteaders, regenerative
farmers, backyard livestock owners, and anyone interested in building a
more resilient future through better land management.

Our focus is simple,” Doug Voss added. “Lower input costs. Improve
soil function. Protect your land from drought. Build something your
children can inherit.”
