We are people who are generating our own free energy out of trash, while also helping our climate.  We are doing this at home, in our community centers, on our homesteads, in rural areas and in cities.

Basically, everywhere!

Who the Biogas Curious class for?

What if your kitchen scraps and garden waste could power your stove, fertilize your soil, and improve your community’s health? In Biogas Curious, a 5-week course, you’ll discover how small-scale biogas systems transform everyday organic waste into clean energy, nutrient-rich fertilizer, and sustainable solutions.

Through 5 engaging modules, you’ll:

  • Learn how biodigesters work as living systems that need care and attention.

  • Turn sanitation and waste challenges into health, economic, and environmental benefits.

  • Improve soil and plant growth using nutrient-rich byproducts from biogas.

  • Create safe, clean-burning cooking fuel from organic waste.

  • Share knowledge, build community, and inspire lasting change.

By the end of the course, you’ll have the skills, confidence, and know-how to transform waste into resources, reduce your environmental footprint, and support your community’s resilience.

Small solutions, big impact. Start your journey toward sustainable living today—because waste is treasure, and every choice matters.

People who enroll in courses become members of the Biogas Education Hub.

Course Pricing:

  • Individual: $150 (Early bird rate: $130)

  • Household: $200 (Early bird rate: $180)

Your Host:  Kathy Puffer

I’m passionate about making biogas simple, accessible, and practical for everyone. At my homestead, I use biogas for cooking and growing food sustainably. The system provides clean cooking fuel and rich fertilizer, which I use as a compost accelerator to enrich the soil for our orchard and gardens. This closed-loop system is designed around permaculture principles, creating regenerative and resilient solutions that benefit both the land and the community.

As an educator, I focus on making biogas hands-on and relevant to your needs. I believe in participatory design—working with communities to create biogas systems that fit their context and last long-term. My goal is to help you implement practical, local solutions that benefit both your household and the planet.

I also offer consulting and presentations on biogas, permaculture, and sustainable design. Let’s work together to create systems that serve you and the Earth.  Learn more about me at kathypuffer.com.

Know that you are enrolling in a high-quality program!

Kathy has been recognized at the World Biogas Summit for bringing small-scale-biogas solutions to communities and women around the world.  At the annual awards gala in Birmingham, UK, on March 29, 2023, Kathy received the Women in Biogas award, and this Biogas Education Hub was highly commended with second place in the Educational Campaign of the Year category.
