Year Round Food Gardening for Houston & SE Texas
Urban Harvest and the Permaculture Guild of Houston announce the start of the Houston, Texas Permaculture Design Certificate Course for the 2019-2020 year. The course is designed to be easy on working families and those with young children while highly affordable. It is now in its 20th consecutive year and is facilitated and partially taught by longtime permaculturists Bob Randall, Ray Sher, Shawn McFarlin, and Brian Herod.
The class is on Sundays in five modules. The first module on two Sunday afternoons– Sustainable Living Through Permaculture– is repeated twice a year in late September and late January. It is a required prerequisite for the three modules in the fall, winter, and spring (“Designing Bountiful Gardens through Permaculture”, “Greening Our Homes and Communities Through Permaculture Design”, and “Restoring Nature Through Permaculture Design”). These three can be taken in any order or year. Students who complete all four modules can sign up for a fifth module—The Design Tutorial—leading to the certificate.
Fall class dates for Sustainable Living are afternoons Sept 27 and Oct 6 ; Bountiful Gardens Oct 13, 20, 27, Nov 10, 17, 24. For more information and to sign-up visit http://urbanharvest.org/education
Four members of the Guild have permaculture diplomas.
