Regenerative Forestry Tools & Techniques at Aprovecho
This one day course will focus on strategies for sustainable and regenerative management of forests in the Pacific Northwest. We will cover the basics of forest health and longevity, and learn how we can help steward resilient forest ecosystems through long-term management. We’ll also get hands-on practice with surveying for individual tree selection, tree falling with hand tools, and low impact log yarding.
Held at the site of the PINA contest winning design, participants will do tree clearing needed before proceeding with pond excavation. There will be third workshop this fall focused on working with excavation equipment, dam building, and preparing for water collection, and post-excavation practices to ensure a successful and ecologically sensitive construction process. Date TBA once the end of fire season can be predicted.
